In an acknowledgement of her progress, the Badminton World Federation has voted Saina Nehwal as the the most promising player of the year. She was chosen over 3 other contenders which were proposed by the World Badminton Players Federation.
She won a number of titles this year . She won the Chinese Taipai Open, the World Junior Championships and Commonwealth Youth Games gold medal in Pune. She had also reached the Quarterfinals of the Beijing Olympics.
